Fire Pit Reviews

Best Fire Pits:

Fire pits are a great way to add ambience to your backyard - especially during those cool nights when the weather is still ok. Many modern homes are designed with built in firepits these days. It seems that families like sitting by a fire, as long as there isn't much work involved. Backyard firepits are easy to assemble and even simpler to setup with wood. There are even propane burning fire bowls that eliminate the wood (smoke too) and let you still get the warmth. Landmanns is a reputable brand name that we have come to recommend to many of our customers. Their outdoor fireplace designs are well thought out and convenient for owners. The Landmann USA 28925 Ball of Fire Outdoor Fireplace sells for about $150 and is our top seller. The spark screen keeps hot embers inside the fireplace yet still allows all the heat to warm up those sitting around the firepit. They are easy to setup and easy to maintain. The Heininger portable propane outdoor fire pit is another favorite of ours. A much simpler look than the Landmann, but you get a clean burning firepit that doesn't need refueling with wood. Just make sure your propane tank has enough fuel so that it doesn't run out during your party. The Strathwood St. Thomas Cast-Aluminum Fire Pit with Table has a beautiful design and is definitely worth a look. It's made with rust-resistant cast aluminum in dark, flecked finish. At $240 it's more expensive than the other fire pits, but the table is a nice feature to have for keeping drinks or food. View all the most popular fire pits here.

Best Fire Pit:
#1 : Landmann 26364 23-1/2-Inch Savannah Garden Light Fire Pit - Perfect looking fire bowl that goes great in any backyard or even when you are RVing. It's easy to assemble, is made with sturdy steel construction, and features a 23 1/2 inch diameter. The spark screen and poker that come with the fire pit are 2 nice additions. The heat from the fire gives everyone around it plenty of warmth. The 2 end rings make for easy transporting (don't touch when hot!). Many people that own fire pits are constantly worried that embers will escape and potentially cause a fire. The spark screen on this fire pit does a great job of keeping the embers inside the pit. To keep the unit stable there are 4 legs on the bottom and the manufacturer does recommend putting sand (5 lbs) at the bottom. As with any type of campfire, this pit too does emit smoke and it can blow in your direction when sitting around the fire pit. Although we don't find it to be an issue, some customers have mentioned that. Smoke is a part of fires, so moving to the other side of the fire pit is one solution. Otherwise, the fire pit gets excellent feedback from consumers and our local fire department recommends this brand for safety.

Best LP Fire Bowl
#2 : Heininger 5995 58,000 BTU Portable Propane Outdoor Fire Pit - Want an outdoor fire pit with no smoke that burns clean? This the one for you. It's easy to setup and install using a portable propane tank. It's extremely lightweight and easy to carry. We've used this fire bowl camping, at the beach, tailgating, and on our patio. It comes with a 10 foot regulator hose so attaching to your propane source is simple. Many states are restricting wood burning fires at campsites, so this is a nice alternative. Gives off plenty of heat - you can adjust the flame/heat by turning the knob. A good value investment for those that don't like smoke coming off regular fire pits. Easy to light and maintain.

Best Wood Burning Fire Pit
#3 : Landmann USA 28925 Ball of Fire Outdoor Fireplace - Landmann does an excellent job with their spark screens and this model is no different. The spherical spark screen provides an unobstructed 360 view of your fire. Need to refuel - just open the pivoting door (like a lid) and put in more wood. The 30 inch diameter fire bowl is plenty large enough for bigger logs and you can remove the top screen to use it for marshmallow roasting. Several of our friends have these fire pits in their backyards and we have used them many times. We even nicknamed this particular one the 'Death Star' from the movie Star Wars as it looks similar with the sphere shape.
